They have WHAT in the Olympics?

Ok, I just have to share this since I am assuming there are those of you out there like myself who had no idea that TRAMPOLINE is an official Olympic event. Yeah, each participant gets 10 jumps to impress the judges.

I found it funny though that you have to be at least 18 years old to compete...aren't the younger people likely to have less fear and therefore wouldn't they make better participants?

Secondly, the US only has one man and one women competing and they made it in basically as afterthoughts because the IOC had empty spots to fill. Wow, you mean the US couldn't watch some of those Youtube videos and scout some sick talent to send to Beijing? Just kidding. (kinda...)

Obviously you don't know anything about the sport of trampoling. The US competed in the 2007 World Championships and because they (both the men and the women) did so well they EARNED (qualified) an Olympic spot. it wasn't just "given" to them at the IOC. in the past years (2000 & 2004) only the US women performed well enough to EARN a spot. the sport is compared to diving. We perform the EXACT same skills only rather than doing one skill into water we land the skill on our feet and do 10 consecutive skills. it's not a backyard sport and its extremely difficult and takes a lot of bravery. The age 18 has to do with the fact that in our sport women peak around age 20-24 and the males not until 25-29. The younger athletes do not have the physical body needed to gain the height and skill level to be competitive on an international elite level.
